About the event

Making the outdoors a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQ+ people is an important step on the way to creating a more inclusive, just, and equitable society. The parks/protected areas community has a special obligation to advocate for LGBTQ+ peoples' involvement in all aspects of planning and management.

Plan to join us on Wednesday, October 6 at 12pm ET for “Supporting LGBTQ+ People in the Outdoors and Protected Areas.” Moderated by GWS Board Member Jennifer Thomsen, the  webinar, part of the Society’s ongoing series on social and ecological justice, features three panelists discussing the issues:

  • Brian Forist, PhD, Lecturer in Parks, Recreation & the Outdoors at the Indiana University School of Public Health–Bloomington
  • Sandy Heath, Branch Manager/ADA Manager, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department

Registration is free and open to the public.
