About the event

The parks/protected areas community has a special obligation to advocate for LGBTQ+ peoples' involvement in all aspects of planning and management.
Plan to join us on Wednesday, October 6 at 12pm ET for “Supporting LGBTQ+ People in the Outdoors and Protected Areas.” Moderated by GWS Board Member Jennifer Thomsen, the webinar, part of the Society’s ongoing series on social and ecological justice, features three panelists discussing the issues:
- Forrest Cortes, Director of Community Engagement, The Nature Conservancy in Illinois; and Volunteer Board Vice President, Chicago Audubon Society
- Brian Forist, PhD, Lecturer in Parks, Recreation & the Outdoors at the Indiana University School of Public Health–Bloomington
- Sandy Heath, Branch Manager/ADA Manager, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department
