Happy Earth Day from NatureServe

Every Earth Day, people around the globe come together to celebrate our amazing planet and the work being done to protect it. The theme of this year's Earth Day, Invest in Our Planet, presents a challenge to all of us: what will you do?

We're sharing a few simple ways you can join in NatureServe's mission to help biodiversity thrive, be it by learning more about why biodiversity matters or telling others about it, connecting with NatureServe and our online community, or by joining the biodiversity champions who support our work through charitable giving.

Start a conversation about why biodiversity matters

Our new “What is Biodiversity?” StoryMap highlights unique examples of the biodiversity in North America and outlines the importance of biodiversity in our everyday lives. Whether you’re an expert on biodiversity or are brand new to the term, this StoryMap will help you expand your knowledge. It’s also a great way to start a conversation about the importance of biodiversity with a friend, family member, or colleague, which is one small thing you can do to make a difference this Earth Day!

In this month's episode of Conservation Conversations with Sean O'Brien, Razan Al Mubarak, President of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), shares how the IUCN leverages its constituency of governments, civil organizations, and indigenous communities to guide global policy change. The conversation also touches on Razan's personal experience in conservation as a woman from the UAE, and what diversity and authentic inclusivity bring to the field.
